[[ london, cruella de vil's penthouse ]]

[ "opening the door will not get your child back, darlings." ]
Boo's not here.

They're combing the filthy penthouse -- checking closets, cupboards, the bathtub, even behind the dust-caked velvet curtains -- and she's not here.

Nathan was randomly tossing around various papers.

"Dammit, the place is a mess," he snarled with more of the growl in his low voice than usual.

People may have noticed breezes whipping through the house. It's not drafts! ...Well, it may be drafts, also. But. It is also your friendly neighbourhood speedster, having a look around.

He stops for all of a minute. "Looks like the place is empty."

Beat.

"But I found this."

Aaaaaand waving a piece of paper with the address of someone's house on it. Smugsmugsmug.

The place is becoming a little less messy, though, as Rabastan has discovered his inner neatnik and has taken it upon himself to spell away as much of the debris as possible.

Cruella's apartment may end up being the cleanest it's been in a decade.

"What did you find?"

Matrix is asking the question; the wizard is too busy muttering about his working conditions to comment in.

"Looks like an address."

Translation: someplace a Boonapper might take a Boo mebbeyes?

"Let's see that."

Beckett's over Bart's shoulder, and she glances down at the paper.

"It's an electric bill. She must be paying for this place on the side."

And now Val is looking over Bart's shoulder as well. She notes the address and date before stepping back to give anyone else room to look. Activating the holographic interface with her armor, Val says, "Give me a map of London and the nearby areas, up to a 10 kilometer radius."

There is now a holographic map projecting above Val's left gauntlet, which Val is holding parallel with the ground. There's only one problem, it is a map of London circa 1999. "Now gray out any areas not built before 1970. Okay, cross reference your historical database then. Approximate!" Areas start to fade to gray as Val argues with the computer and soon the haystack is getting smaller.

"I think I have it! Or at least the neighborhood. And if I'm right, I think we can take the local public bus near here!"

Felix leans in to inspect the map, before admitting to himself that he doesn't know what he's looking for.

"Do we want to do that? We'll stand out quite a bit." He gestures to indicate his sword, Val's armor, Charlie's mask.

Bill studies the map then looks at Felix.

"We ain't got a choice. It'll take forever t'walk there an' we ain't got any other transportation. Unless there's a way that all of us can blend in real quick we'll just have to go an' deal with it.

"If someone asks questions well... we're tourists."

Hopefully sticking out like a sore thumb won't prevent them from getting a ride.

"I wonder if they'll buy the tourist angle," Rabastan mutters, noting that even though he's taken to adopting the Lunar dress code, he still looks like he stepped out of a fantasy novel. "We look more like asylum escapees than tourists."

Matrix just gives Rabastan a snarly look. That wizard had better not be questioning his sanity—that's the renegade's own job to do that.

"I say we were invited to a friend's costume party and ... got lost?"

"People tend to believe anything if said with conviction." He doesn't say this with conviction. But if mass transit is the only option they have, so be it.

"And those of us who can blend in should, at least," Dani suggests, shifting from ghost form to normal human.

It was either that or go invisible the whole way.

Nathan added, "I can make sure we'll get through." Flashing a bright toothy politician grin that looked like he was ready to shake hands and kiss babies.

He then added, "Especially since too many here to fly over, and that wouldn't be as incognito."

Pffft.

"I can totally do unnoticeable."

"Well, it looks like we've got a working situation, then," Beckett says out loud.

It'll be easy enough for her to ditch the police vest for civvies, anyway.

A young teenager glances over at the very suspicious looking group as they leave the building. He follows them at a distance, and a vague smile crosses his features as he eavesdrops them asking for directions.

The Boss is going to be very pleased.

After the group gets on the bus, Shorty finds a pay phone and makes a call. Then he heads back in the direction he came from.
