[[ london, cruella de vil's penthouse ]]
[ "opening the door will not get your child back, darlings." ]Boo's not here.
They're combing the filthy penthouse -- checking closets, cupboards, the bathtub, even behind the dust-caked velvet curtains -- and she's not here.

She activates a sensor sweep of the apartment to see if there is anything unusual. She is sure there is no point, the technology of this world is old, but she has to do something.

"How can anyone let a place get so filthy?"
He bends down to look under the bed and shudders.

"There's gotta be somethin' here that'll lead us to where she's at," Bill says, shoving aside an empty crate with his foot in frustration.

We'll find her, we'll find her, we'll find her.
(It's getting harder and harder to believe.)

"Dammit, the place is a mess," he snarled with more of the growl in his low voice than usual.

He stops for all of a minute. "Looks like the place is empty."
Beat.
"But I found this."
Aaaaaand waving a piece of paper with the address of someone's house on it. Smugsmugsmug.

Cruella's apartment may end up being the cleanest it's been in a decade.
"What did you find?"
Matrix is asking the question; the wizard is too busy muttering about his working conditions to comment in.

Beckett's over Bart's shoulder, and she glances down at the paper.
"It's an electric bill. She must be paying for this place on the side."

There is now a holographic map projecting above Val's left gauntlet, which Val is holding parallel with the ground. There's only one problem, it is a map of London circa 1999. "Now gray out any areas not built before 1970. Okay, cross reference your historical database then. Approximate!" Areas start to fade to gray as Val argues with the computer and soon the haystack is getting smaller.
"I think I have it! Or at least the neighborhood. And if I'm right, I think we can take the local public bus near here!"
no subject
"Do we want to do that? We'll stand out quite a bit." He gestures to indicate his sword, Val's armor, Charlie's mask.

"We ain't got a choice. It'll take forever t'walk there an' we ain't got any other transportation. Unless there's a way that all of us can blend in real quick we'll just have to go an' deal with it.
"If someone asks questions well... we're tourists."
Hopefully sticking out like a sore thumb won't prevent them from getting a ride.

It's been years since her family lived there, but she still travels to the London office for work a few times each year; still, this isn't her time period or even her world.
She glances at Felix, hope and apprehension twisting her insides.
"We will, but Bill's right -- we have to get there somehow."
She's praying it's late enough that there won't be too many people out to notice them.

Matrix just gives Rabastan a snarly look. That wizard had better not be questioning his sanity—that's the renegade's own job to do that.
"I say we were invited to a friend's costume party and ... got lost?"

It was either that or go invisible the whole way.

He then added, "Especially since too many here to fly over, and that wouldn't be as incognito."
no subject
"I can totally do unnoticeable."

It'll be easy enough for her to ditch the police vest for civvies, anyway.

The Boss is going to be very pleased.
After the group gets on the bus, Shorty finds a pay phone and makes a call. Then he heads back in the direction he came from.
