[[ ooc: boo!plot, part the second ]]

[ part one ]
Hello again, everybody!

First off, thanks to all of you for your taggin' brilliance and for volunteering to help save the Boolet! I know we've got at least a couple of pups who haven't tagged in yet because of schedules, but! NEVER FEAR, WE HAVE A SEARCH-AND-RESCUE PLAN.

In the EP I'm about to toss up for Kate Warner, she's going to be leaving the note in response to Cruella's note that she and Bill and Detective Beckett discussed. She'll also leave a note for Security, to give them a heads-up on the situation (and Security might need to defuse any potential explosions among Cruella and the Home Team while they're holding Cruella in the bar *G*).

Home Team (in-bar)
- Cruella de Vil ([livejournal.com profile] obsessedwithfur)
- AndrAIa ([livejournal.com profile] notascreensaver)
- Coreen ([livejournal.com profile] coreenfennel)
- Demeter ([livejournal.com profile] wheatencrown)
- Mia Ausa ([livejournal.com profile] gorgonfondness)

Away Team

The Beckett Brigade ([livejournal.com profile] fanofthegenre):
- Felix of Vale ([livejournal.com profile] venusadept_2)
- Matrix ([livejournal.com profile] renegade_enzo)
- Rabastan LeStrange ([livejournal.com profile] iambetadraconis)
- Val Von Doom ([livejournal.com profile] val_von_doom)
- Vic Sage ([livejournal.com profile] 52_dropoff)

The Bill Brigade ([livejournal.com profile] wheelsy_sheriff):
- Bart Allen ([livejournal.com profile] blinkandyoumiss)
- Dani Phantom ([livejournal.com profile] ami_imperfect)
- Kate Warner ([livejournal.com profile] justdidntseeit)
- Nathan Petrelli ([livejournal.com profile] waylostandfound)

Lai's going to EP Cruella, and Cruella will be incognito, checking to see if there's been any kind of response to the ransom note. Bill will make first contact, since he's met Cruella, and then Our Heroes can converge and split into their teams. (Any supplies anyone doesn't have on their person -- like flashlights, for example -- can be retrieved from Bar.)

Now, the somewhat-formed plan was to have Val Von Doom wedge Cruella's door open as soon as Cruella came in; Lai's suggestion (in the name of lulz) is to have the door shut behind Cruella before anyone realizes it's her, and then, when everyone's ready to leave, Cruella will gladly open her door for them, because she doesn't think they'll find Boo. (Thoughts?)

Why, you ask, wouldn't they find Boo?

Cruella's door will lead Our Heroes to Cruella's apartment in 1960s London.

Cruella's empty apartment.

Boo, you see, is actually behind held in Cruella's crumbling estate across the city.

From Lai:

Cruella comes from money. She was raised by servants who always give her everything she wanted. “Entitled” might be the word I want to use here. Cruella is the last of her family, one that filtered out as the world became more progressed. Even though most of the family money is long gone, Cruella still hangs on to the old ways. She refuses to get rid of the family house (named Hell Hall) – more for the appearance of prestige than anything else.

Cruella herself is always surrounded in green smoke from her unique pink cigarettes.

Cruella’s apartment is messy, as if she expects the maid who will never come, or if she never got into the habit of picking up after herself. There are shoes hanging off the furniture, papers littered all over the place. The furniture itself is black, and almost everything else is in various shades of pink, red or orange. The place reeks of old smoke; there are full ashtrays everywhere about. The decor shows she’s from old money, being overlarge and generally more ornate than need be. It’s a relatively small penthouse apartment: a bedroom and (filthy) kitchen, large living room and bathroom. On her beside table amongst the ashes, the odd vodka bottle and devil phone, are several bills. Once examined, one of the bills is an electric bill from the old De Vil place, complete with address.

Once our heroes decide Boo is not at the apartment and to try the house, they will discover that they can get within walking distance of the place by a forgotten bus line that is rumored to be haunted. When they inquire at the bus place, the henchman stationed there will alert the godfather so everything will be all ready when they get there.

Old armor, holes, in the walls, cans littered, old papers and alcohol bottles. There’s a grand piano, obviously not used with things inside it. Smells like dogs. Walls are purple and pink with a bit of red. Cracks in walls, paintings ripped and glass broken. Obviously this place used to be quite grand, but it lost its grandeur many years past and has fallen into disrepair. Surrounding the place is many many trees. Pictures of old grand looking men and too clean children. The floors are purple in the living room. Everywhere else is shades of blue and green. Sheets cover everything. Windows broken, smells of dog pee and poo.

The front door opens to a entrance way, which has a hallway and a set of stairs leading upstairs. Downstairs there is what looks like it used to be a formal living room, with a grand piano and sheets over all the nice furniture, and a layer of dust over most of that. Some chairs and are overturned and missing limbs. Formal living room has a door that goes outside to a back porch and a fireplace. Plaster broken on the walls and several places on the ceiling.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Sheets cover everything. Upstairs smells stale, as if no one has been there in years. Railing on the stairs is broken in several places.

So! Our Heroes will search Cruella's apartment, it'll be apparent that Boo isn't there, and the great search will be *on.* Maybe Rastaban conjures a charm that lets the search party see if they're hot or cold in relation to Boo's whereabouts? (Is that lame?)

While in the apartment, someone can find that bill with Cruella's other address on it, and there can be much handwaving in regard to travel. *g* For Kate Warner's part, she's somewhat familiar with London because her family lived there for a couple of years, and she visits for business regularly. However, she's famililar with the London in her time (2005), not necessarily 1960s London. Still, if she has a general idea of the area, she can get everyone headed in the right direction, they can ask transport officials, and so on.

(That said, do we have any pups who're awesome with 1960s London?)

And, once everyone arrives at the house, it won't be as simple as waltzing in and taking Boo. Straight from Lai:

Cruella learned a bit from the mess she made of the dognapping incident. She has better thugs this time around, including a Godfather sort of figure who doesn't do much but he makes sure that all the younger guys do what they're supposed to. When they get to the house there's at least two stories - there's only two seen in the movie, but it really looks like three, yeah? So I figure the team will have to split up into upstairs and downstairs teams.

The thugs will be spread out throughout the house and the house will be full of booby traps. The nature of which ... I still haven't worked out BUT THERE WILL BE A LOT OF THEM! I have plans to spend time on google to get ideas, and also look at the team to try to make some that can't be magicked away with their special powerz.

I think Boo will actually BE in the attic, which will have some sort of secret entrance so it's not easily found. Maybe something where it's not even obvious there is an attic so that they get through all the traps and everything and the two teams meet up and go "wait, you don't have her? We don't either. Where the hell is she?!" And then someone goes "wait. Didn't I see three stories outside?"

If it's cool with Bat and Carly, Bill's team will comb the downstairs while Beckett's team heads upstairs to check out the rest of the house.

Now, we'll totally have descriptions to go by for the sub-threads while pups are checking the house, and a few photos for reference, but don't let that stifle you! Maybe there's a pile of tin cans stacked just beyond that door your pups is about to open; maybe there's a stack of books just waiting to be tripped over, or a trip-wire strung in that stairway! IMAGINATION IS YOUR FRIEND.

All this said -- guys, this is TOTALLY baby's first big-ass plot; if I'm being too general or too specific? Please, don't hesitate to let me know! And please, hit me up with questions and/or comments, and I'll zoom to respond to 'em ASAP.

*waves*

Just a note: Bart is a SPEEEEEDSTAH. So... he searches like burning. Which... idk. He could get caught by a booby trap, or be set to search for 'em, or maybe they should have him check out other places just in case?

THESE ARE JUST THINGS OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. Speedsters just have a track record of finding things fast. >>

Well, ya see, there's lots of tar and things which would keep him from being as quick as possible.

I would suggest having a lot of radio signals around Cruella's place as well. In another OOM plot I established that Val has a sort of passive radar for mapping in her armor which could in theory find the attic. If there's lots of interference in the form of background "noise", it won't work. I don't remember from the movie if this is something we can set up though. Wasn't the place out in the boonies?

Everything looks well thought out and I will tag in once I get back this evening.

[identity profile] obsessedwithfur.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It IS out in the boonies. But surely we can find something that'll work. Maybe there's a telephone company's headquarters nearby! Would that work?

Actually it occurs to me that RADAR may not work quite the way I am imagining and it would just bounce off any walls. I'll research it and figure out something that interferes with it if need be. = ]

And fooey, I missed all the starting fun. Shall we pretend three days of stake out caught up with Val and she passed out at her booth? Or maybe she fell asleep but the commotion of the gang wakes her up and she bides her time to act? If we go with this, I can post her in next with her wedging the door open now that Cruella opened it a crack.

Fully open to which ever you want to do. = ]

Not really, since I believe there's a spell in canon that acts as a compass, though I'm not sure if that's what you meant.

But if HP fandom is anything to go off of, one can make something up just for the sake of convenience.

However, if this is an old house and a grand one at that, I suspect that anyone relying on Rabastan to play the role of magical scenthound might find themselves rendered Very Frustrated, especially if there's a lot of rooms in this place I can't imagine the spell would tell them which room she's in until they get closer] to get lost in.

[Which may suit my own purposes, since I've been wanting to ask if Rabastan and Matrix can get separated from their party somewhere along the way (possibly after tripping a booby trap), so they (the team as a whole) might start heading upstairs (the spell said "upstairs"), but then my two heroes get separated, and everyone else is left to fumble for themselves as Matrix and Rabastan find each other less-than-ideal company to be with as they make their way back to the group while avoiding traps and henchmen.]

I'm game for whatever, personally. But Beckett is going to be completely decked out (i.e. gun, bulletproof jacket, etc.), because she is srs bsns about this kidnapping thing.

Sorry I'm late; I was doing something with my woman's group from church. Is it too late for me to tag into the main post?

[identity profile] waylostandfound.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok yeah I only got to tag Bill's EP last niught. Hope to thread a little but will handwave as needed to be able to tag into plotty. Missed this posting last night. Should be back home tonight. This will be very slowtimed and Millitimed for mun's bad schedules? And is there a asummary of last night's plot chat in case I missed anything for Nathan?

[identity profile] obsessedwithfur.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now everything is contained to this thread, and it's still less than fifty tags. (The summery is: Cruella is prideful, people threaten her and she laughs in their face before opening the door for them to go search her world)

We're waiting on the people who haven't had a chance to tag yet to tag in - just something to show they're present and showing their support. Once that happens we'll continue on with the giving of assignments.

And, yeah, with this many people working on a thread, everything is going to be majorly slowtimed.

I think that was all your questions?
