The wireless signal in Bill's bedroom kind of sucks. But at least it's there, unlike in some areas of the house.
Kate's sitting against the headboard with her laptop, sporting a frayed Wheelsy Cooters T-shirt (complete with faded mascot) and a pair of orange yoga pants, her hair in loose twin braids.
She's double-checking the flight information for tomorrow's trip to New Mexico, making sure the departure time hasn't changed.
Or she would be double-checking it, if the page would load.

Wearing blue sweats and a Colts ringer T-shirt he sits down on his side of the bed, careful not to jostle Kate and her laptop.
"Everything look all right with your flight an' all?"
no subject
deathnetwork timeout with a pout."Probably."
She shifts so he can see the screen.
"I'll know for sure in another year."
no subject
"I'm sorry, Kate. Is there somethin' I can do to get you a better signal in here?"
He doubts if there's anything he can do about it right now, but he has been meaning to ask her if she needs him to do something to make using her laptop in the house easier. He's noticed the living room is the only place she can really get much done without problems.
no subject
Her glib response dies in her throat when she sees the almost worried look on his face.
"No."
She reaches over to give his forearm a gentle squeeze.
"It's fine -- I'll check it in the morning."
She closes the laptop and sets it on the floor.
no subject
"How 'bout for later?" He asks when she rises from putting the laptop down. "Could be somethin' I can take care of while you an' Doc are gone."
no subject
She presses a kiss to his shoulder.
"There's other things I'd rather do in here."
no subject
Smiling wider, he shifts on the bed and one hand reaches out to trail along her side.
"Other things I'm sure I can take care of now."
no subject
She draws back with a rueful head-shake.
"And none of that, sheriff. We've got a house guest with ears like a bat."
no subject
Trying not to pout he gives her one of his winning smiles.
"I'm sure after everything today he's probably out by now."
He already knows he isn't going to win but can't help giving her a slow once over and lowering his voice.
"We could also put on the radio."
no subject
"And you say I'm the bad influence."
A beat.
"If he's awake, he's probably still playing with my iPod."
no subject
"I'm just learnin' from you, is all."
no subject
Nonetheless, she inches closer; her smile softens as she studies his face in the lamplight from the nightstand.
"I can't remember the last time someone took me to the airport."
no subject
He reaches out and his hand rests on her arm lightly.
"Don't tell me you usually walk," He teases, his own smile softening.
no subject
She breathes out a chuckle and lifts a hand to adjust one braid at her shoulder.
"I usually take a cab, or have a company car drop me off."
A brief pause.
"It's nice, that you're driving."
no subject
He knows what it's like to come home to an empty house after being out and about town here, but he's pretty sure it's hardly the same.
Giving her arm a brief squeeze he silently promises to see her off and be there for her return as much as he can.
"I'm happy to. Get you there on time an' gives me a little more time with you."
no subject
"Well, I appreciate that."
She tilts her head to brush her lips against his.
"Sure you don't want to come, after all? It's not a full flight, and I can reserve an extra ticket ... "
no subject
After their lips meet it's hard not to say yes.
He wants to go, and was surprised with himself when he said no the first time but, he wants to get back to work. He's tired of being out already and knows by now that the only way to do that is to get through the therapy sessions.
He also has something else to take care of but can't share it with her.
"No, thanks, but... I can't. I gotta... you know, take care of stuff. I'm all right."
no subject
She nods against her pillow.
"I don't want you to miss any sessions, either."
I just wish I didn't feel like I'm abandoning you.
"But I wish you could have a little fun, too."
no subject
"I'm gonna be okay. It's just a few days. If I get bored I can always call up Rudy an' Dave. Sure they'd be happy to drop by knowin' I got beer."
no subject
Her lips curve into a half-smile as she nuzzles into the touch.
"And Madden."
no subject
"Yeah, an' Madden. An' lots of snack. I might end up throwin' a party so don't worry 'bout me none."
Leaning forward he kisses her forehead.
"In fact, you might wanna reconsider stayin', could be the event of the year an' you'd miss it."
no subject
She's smirking as she turns on her side to face him.
"I promise I'll bring you back the tackiest souvenir I can find."
She hooks one leg over his hip.
"What do you think -- coffee mug? Or maybe a magnet. Or a T-shirt."
no subject
He lifts his hand as she turns and smooths his hand down her arm when she resettles, running it along her side down to her hip.
"Maybe a T-shirt."
Smirking he tugs on the hem of the one she's wearing.
"Since you keep 'borrowin' all of mine."
no subject
"Just for that, it'll be in Spanish."
no subject
He shakes his head at her in mock-disapproval, fingertips finding their way beneath the hem of the shirt and to her waistband.
no subject
Her voice catches.
"I'm just doing what girlfriends do. Borrowing your boyfriend's clothes is one of the rules."
no subject
His fingers find bare skin and graze across it and he shifts to fit himself even closer.
"I guess I won't complain."
Smiling he presses his lips to hers.
no subject
"We, um -- "
He's warm and solid and so close, and she's already flushed as she licks her lips.
"I made a new rule this morning."
no subject
"New rule?"
The question is murmured against her skin as he kisses her cheek.
no subject
Her stomach jumps while her fingers slip beneath his shirt and wander up his back.
"It's. Um."
The rule is a lot less important right now than it was at the breakfast table.
no subject
"It's... " He prompts before kissing along the underside of her jaw.
no subject
She tips her head to encourage his lips.
"It was -- that we should ... "
The heat of his palm is distracting as it causes her to shiver.
no subject
He smiles, not sure what she's trying to say but finding wicked amusement in keeping her from saying it.
Trying to keep it up his tongue grazes her skin and his palm finds and cups her breast softly.
no subject
She breathes out something between a sigh and an oh, her hand sliding to one of his shoulder blades as she rolls her hips against his.
no subject
His lips move to the hollow of her neck and shoulder and his thumb swipes over her hardening nipple, his palm gently kneading her soft flesh.
no subject
Her fingers curl into his back, marking his skin with tiny crescents.
"And -- "
She swallows thickly.
"You're too good at this."
no subject
"Am I?"
He smirks against her neck and arches his hips against her.
no subject
Her eyes close and she nods.
"Because we shouldn't -- not when -- "
Her thigh rides higher on his side as she presses closer against him, and she loses the battle for coherency.
no subject
He hears her words and puts together what she's been trying to say. Part of him knows she's right and the other is quickly getting past the point of caring.
When her leg moves higher he arches against her again.
Breaking his lips from her neck he moves back up to her cheek, kissing her before reluctantly asking, "Really think we shouldn't?"
no subject
"I think we should be really, really quiet."
no subject
"I think we can do that."
He's at least willing to try.
no subject
She's grinning against his mouth as she tilts her head for another kiss.
(The joint effort is mostly a success; after an hour that would put church mice to shame, it's Kate who knocks the phone from its cradle as she's turning off the lamp.)
